I wish you a healthy recovery.
I know there are a few people here who are also having a hard time this season. My father is in ailing health and I wonder if he can make it week to week sometimes. At this stage I will be going to visit him to start off September. I only wish he could get the liver transplant but who knows if that will ever happen.
I appreciate my health today. As you said, Keep the stories and photos coming.

I know the feeling. In 97', I broke my back on October 5th. I still made the rifle hunt with a jewitt brace on my chest and back. Wife was not so happy, but she figured I would go anyway...she knows me to well.... I could not tie boots, so I leveraged my hunting buddy into it.
When I asked him for a bit of help wiping, he told me that our friendship ended at boots.
I still hiked the canyons...a bit slower than usual.

Godbless him!!!!!!!! I wish the best for you guys. Have my retired disabled father coming u p to rifle elk in Id, this year. I just hope I can put him on a bull. I was worthless last year and broke my leg in MT during hunting season. Filled the cow tags but couldnt do nothing for hard hunting for him. Good luck, enjoy the good the season together.

I wish you well. If I wasn't headed south, I would come over and help you. You wouldn't even have to give away any of your secrets to the horde.

Miles, you'll still be a little tender come archery season for elk, but you should be able to do it. Now packing or dragging an elk out 3-4 weeks after hernia surgery I would highly caution you against, unless you want to repeat the surgery 3-4 weeks after the first one. Good luck with a speedy recovery.

September 13th Idabooner and I hit the road at about 4 am. with coffee and Dew in hand. I'm nervous as hell about this one. I'm shooting well. I just had to purchase new arrows as mine are starting to show wear. They aren't here yet. I'm changing broadheads I think. They aren't here yet. I'm really stressing over this one for some reason. Lots of big guns in the woods at that time I guess, and I am going into their backyard. I keep getting brochures from these guys to guide me. 6-10 grand a piece for 5 days. They have teams of guys scouting. Chute planes and all. Unbelievable. I hope there will be a bull out there that doesn't have a team of guys with radios attached to his ass. These high profile hunts aren't all good. The 5 day thing really gets me. 5 days isn't very long, but I guess I have never really taken that long on any of my other hunts. I'm not nearly in the shape I want to be in as I have been working so many double shifts, I just haven't logged many miles. The gear is good, and I have my maps. I have to pick up supplies yet. ANyhow, pretty worried about this one. I hope I don't let you guys down.

Thanks! I often get a bit nervous about the hunt, at least the big ones. Then it always comes together.

Remember Bone, it's all about you and your Dad hunting monster bulls in some of the best country in the world, who gives a rip if you come home with a giant, you are doing what you love with your pop,It don't get any better than that. I don't envy you for your tag, just the time you get to spend with your Dad. You guys have a blast (I know you will from your prior hunts) and enjoy yourselves.
