This is a good read and base line for the chambering.

7mm Practical.

My buddy has a 7 Rum ...man it is a serious shooter ....just to bad I had to show him how to use it ... :chuckle: :chuckle:

That was very interesting, makes me want to rethink my desire for a 7RUM!

The 7mm Ultra is still a great chambering, I have crushed some bears with it and the 160gr Accubond. Killed a bunch of Rockchucks with the Accubonds.

Traded the rifle off and now a friends 16 year old son carries it.

Can you tell this pic was taken on the wet side. :chuckle:

I had a great! Black Tail walk right by me that afternoon, this was after he passed me. He was at point blank , he didn't notice me until I took this pic and then he didn't even care. If it had been twenty days later, he would have got smoked HARD!

To finish it, the wait is going to be on McMillan. I ordered the  Adj A3-5 stock 5/1/13 and they are running a ways out. Sometimes they get a few out early.

I'm interested to see how this works out for you. I have the bug for a 7mm, but I can't decide which one. I've been leaning towards either the 7/375 Ruger or the 7mm LRM.

I been working on a wildcat myself -  the .17/50BMG

If I can chamber this in a 19" handgun barrel then I'm in!

I looked at the 7mm LRM, but chose to go the direction I did because I have piles of Norma, Lapua, Winchester and Federal .300 Win Mag brass I have stored away from all the .300's I have shot over the years. Call me sick but when it comes to magnum wildcats, I like the head spacing of the belt thing.

Good little long range varmint cartridge.  I can go prairie dog hunting in South Dakota without leaving Washington.  Velocities are showing up in the Mach 7-8 range.  Takes a really slow powder, though.  Right now I'm using ground up Kingsford Briquettes, but am probably going to work up a load using straight anthracite soon.

 :chuckle:
I bet that will be a barrel burner with the throat erosion.  At least you'll now have a portable, back country plasma cutter.
