Dash point
« on: July 28, 2013, 04:48:02 PM »
Anyone fished dash point early in the week like monday or tuesday mornings? Im thinking of heading out there but am not going to go and fight crowds, also Ill throw an offer out, I have an 18' bayliner that I take out occasionally, no down riggers. will have a couple of open seats every time I go if anyone wants to hit the salt for some salmon.

Last pink season, I was laid off work a few weeks in the summer and we went to Dash Point a lot and it NEVER got better lol.  Insane battle fishing the entire time :/ good luck!

If you have a boat why not just go out in that?

I would fish the beach, to many hoodrats fishing the pier, and lots of testosterone on it  :mor:

Yea with waders usually, and Brown's Point as well.

And you dont need waders. Fish are biting with 30 feet of the shore line.
the guy next to me hooked two fish 5 feet from teh waters edge using a fly rod.

Maybe some rubber boots or flip flops in case you get your feet wet  :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

No kidding, last time I was out there 2 years ago there were people trying to fist fight, cutting eachothers lines over lost fish. Just ridiculous

Yeah man if you have waders, Just hit up the beach just east of the dock. There is usually a few other guys out there and they catch just as many fish if not more then anyone else....
Maybe Ill meet up with you out there one day and we can do some fishing.

Me personally, I wouldn't fish the beach without the waders, It puts you out alittle further and right along the other guys in waders. Its a pain when your on shore and you have people 10-15 feet out in front of you on either side when fighting a fish. Then you gotta get everyone out of your way, dunno. If you don't have waders its still do-able but if you have them put some use to them.

Well no you don't NEED them but last pink year with everyone in the water with waders it's hard to be on shore without and casting out. It might be early enough to where there's still not many on shore though. I remember watching the fly fisherman getting more than the guys on the pier a lot of the times lol.

Neither, its opens at 6am. guys will line up in front of the gates as early as they can and the line will go all they way to the main road.

One guy I talked to yesterday said he was there at 4:30 and was the second in line to get in and park. Then the gate to dock, it dont open until 6 also and they line gets long there too.

its actually quite funny  :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

You can say that again. We've had to park about a mile up the hill before just to be able to get down to the park and fish. Crazzy stuff. Fricken humpy fever.

I put in at point defiance about 1 o'clock today. Just cruising. I saw a nice king caught at the mouth of gig harbor. I then took a cruise to dash point. Wow the pier was packed. I sat and watched awhile and saw some pinks being caught from the beach. Buzz bombs I think. Took the boat out about 4:430. They will be here any day.  :IBCOOL:

Brown's Point and Dash Point (among others) are good spots to fish for pinks because they extend out into a major travel route as the fish bunch up near the stream they're running up. Not saying your chosen beach will not be good; just make sure its along the fishes' travel route to a stream to have much chance at all. A few spots slightly north of the flats come to mind as possibilities. Nisqually run is one of the smaller ones btw.
