Shelton area salmon....Working in the area for a week
« on: August 11, 2013, 11:15:05 AM »
Have to spend the next week in the Shelton area working, and I am not familiar with this area at all for salmon fishing.  I will not have a boat with.  Any input on where to go toss a line for fresh or salt water would be much appreciated.

You have to experience the Skok for yourself.  It is crazy... If I was you I would scout the crap out of the river.

Any options for tossing a line from the shore in salt water?

If that is the way you are going to go.. Hit the mouth of river and the salt.  Give that a go...

But you still need to walk the river with a pole in your hand.  It is nuts like Nubs said.  You have to experience it.

The Skoke has been putting out some nice fish. I won't fish it though and I live here.

Hoodsport was good for pinks a couple weeks ago, I've been out of the loop so not sure if it has petered off yet.

If it's not too far the Quilcene will be open around then.  Fish should be starting to show.  Similar entertainment as Skok.

:yeah: on the Killascene, it is just as fun as the Skok.  Believe it or not, it is more fun to watch the circus than actually fish.

Just learn to yell "IT'S IN THE MOUTH!" and you'll be good. Quil makes me sick. In all seriousness, any way to catch them in the Quil without flossing? I'll be up in the area at the end of the month and have tried it a couple years with no luck.
