We were headed that way to do some 4 wheeling this weekend and kick it at Clear Lake. Is this going to be doable?

I will be up there roaming around some where. If you see the "Barbie Jeep", stop and say  :hello:

You will know when you see it  :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Will do Gasman! Look for us in this.

We were up last weekend during the light show. Watched about 20 horse trailers come down from 11PM - 2PM Friday night. Then atched the firefighers heading up the 1000 road on Sunday.
Hope the cams stay out of the fire and the area doesn't get shut down for archery.
I'll look for your updates.

I just talked to the ranger station. The 1000 road is shut down at from the lake up. They did evacuate all the campers up there like you saw.
You can still get up by the 1202 or 1203 and take the 550 to the Jeep trails. The jeep trails are all open and you can get to the 1000 road still in many places even on the 4w619 to Conrad.

Although its not advised. She said if it blows there going to evacuate all fire crews and safety personal and you could be on your own if trouble flares up. There are a total of 12 fires going on right now...

Hoping this rain makes it over the mountain. Looks like some will.

Awesome trip, no smoke, all 4x4 trails open. Even stopped and talked to Gasman and crew. Fire crews had no issues with us up the 1000 rd a ways.

Thanks Pete for commin up to Lost lake to make sure we made it back! Severed the leaf springs on the rt rear and had to come along the rear axle in place and remove the driveline to limp it back the 15 to 18 miles.

Rimrock 4 x 4 trails are no joke!  ;)

How far up the 1000 were they willing to let you go?

Attached is a picture of the large fire above Conrad on Saturday morning.  I counted 9 individual fires,  They were pooring water all day Saturday.  By Sunday afternoon it looked like they had it much more under control.  Should be no issue by the 3rd based on what I saw.

Fires make for good elk food but they sure suck the year they are burning.

Anyone know if they've called that fire contained or controlled yet?
