Lee Classic Loader 30-30 Winchester questions

im thinking about picking up one of these hand loading kits and trying it out to decide if i want to get a full set up later on when funds and space are available. im curious if anyone on here has had any experience with this setup and what their opinions are. seems pretty straight forward and a good was to crank some rounds on the small scale.

I thought the same as you, but I ultimately started on a Lee hand press with regular dies.  It can be done with the classic loader (youtube it), but it is pretty slow, and the thought of seating primers that way is a bit unnerving, for me. For a little more money, the Lee handpress and dies would give you a bit more flexibility (Mine came with the press mounted priming die.).

IIRC, the classic loader comes with a Lee dipper, so that you can dispense with the need for a scale. But I'd prefer to weigh charges individually, or check the measure with a scale.

That is exactly what I started with. Back then it was the only loader the made and was simply called the lee loader. If you can still get the powder measure set, get that too. You may never get a press!

I also have the hand press and love it I reload 3 pistol rounds and am thinking of getting 30-30 dies reviews I read say you lose a lot of primers until you get the feel for it.  On the plus side with the Lee hand press you will have the dies if you go into a full press system.  I got my setup for less than 100 bucks on eBay.

I loaded thousands of rounds with the classic Lee loader before I got my first press. 12 & 20 gauge, .30-30 and 7mm Rem Mag. Great and cheap way to see if it is something that you want to invest more $$ into.

thanks for the input everyone, im going to get together with a friend that has been reloading for years and get a better idea of the ins and outs of the whole thing and hopefully we can get  to putting some rounds together soon
