Lewis River fishing
« on: August 24, 2013, 05:26:46 PM »
Hey everyone! I just recently moved down to Vancouver, I'm originally from northern Washington so I'm used to fishing the snohomish and surrounding river systems, everything down here is entirely new to me! I ventured out along the Lewis today to see what was available for fishing and saw quite a few fisherman hitting the river, anyone have any recommendations on a decent spot to get into some fish? I'm not looking for anyone's honey holes just a point in the right direction. I'll be mainly drift fishing from the bank/wading. Thanks for any advice and good luck to everyone this season!

Just look for people. Read the regs closely and realize its slow.

I grew up in woodland fishing the Lewis. My buddies and I used to go out behind the golf course and drift eggs for steelies. I quit fishing it about 3 years out of high school. Got to be way to many people for me. Lots of good water though. The hatchery gets to be crazy town when the silvers are in.

I definitely realized how packed the hatchery can get this morning! Went down there a half hour before light and still had trouble finding a place to squeeze in, I brought the girl along seeing as of how she wants to take up the beautiful sport but it was a tough show today with all the lines in the water. Only saw two fish landed but I'll be doing some more research along the river to find some better holes with less people. Thanks for the response!
