When to Keep A Fowl Hooked Fish?

Lets say that you are fishing for humpies down on the Puyallup River, and having one real good time with family and friends  ( I knew it is far fetched as I typed it) ou have a few fish on the bank, and someone in your group fowl hooks a fish. Y'all get it in and its bleeding like a stuck pig (ok fish). The hook is just under the pec. fin in the heart area. Its going to die before it spawns. Do you,,

1. Go ahead and throw it back in and let it die? (yes I know, its going to die anyway)
2. Keep it, put it on your punch card.

Remember that this fish was not snagged, it was fowl hooked.

I generally keep fish that would otherwise die if released. Kept a pretty small large mouth the other day because it manage to hook all three trebles in the back of the throat.

Keep it if you wanna risk that kind of ticket for a humpy.

bleed the fish and gut it.  The fowl hook makes are now gone. At least your not wasting it.

Yeah I guess you could even go as far as to filleting it out. Ive seen it done a few times. Not sure if that's legal though.

Do what ur gut tells you to do, its usually the right thing........but yes that would be a hefty ticket for a humpy

The nutrients of a dead fish are more beneficial in the river than on the bank.

Leaving a fish on the bank is a good way to get a ticket for waste.

Take the hook and leave it in the water.  Nothing really goes to waste in nature.  Bother me but, that is the way it is.  It is not worth the ticket.  If the wardens let it slide then snagers would use the fowl hooked excuse.

Kind of a mix from the bios I've talked to.  They want the fish scattered around up above the bank, but want it done naturally.  They toss the hatchery rejects in the river and say they want bear, coon, cougar, etc to drag and deposit carcasses up in the bushes and near trees.
