Not much high hunt talk?
« on: September 15, 2013, 10:06:45 PM »
Where is all the high hunt talk?  Is the opener timing keeping people home?  I am headed out Tuesday for a few days.  It killed me not to be there now. Good luck to everyone out there. I hope you are riding out this storm.  Kinda glad I am not in a tent right now, listening to my horses freak out.

I think the reports will be interesting between the heat, the storm and rain, I can't wait to hear them.  Good luck mike, hope you shoot a big one.

Just got back from the high hunt. I went up thursday and elk hunted for 2 days and then a friend of mine met me up there on friday night. I had spotted a couple of bucks across a basin and we decided to go after them. we ended up jumping the big buck out of its bed at 25 yds and my buddy couldn't get it in the scope, kind of a bummer but it happens. It was a blast and had a billy come into camp saturday morning around 2 am and he didn't leave until that storm came through last night. That was one heck of a storm by the way.

About servicing your wife?  :dunno:

I was planning on heading up friday, and staying for ten days or so, bud decided to head over to help my uncle with his sheep hunt instead.  Killed a ram yesterday, and I am thinking I am just gonna skip the high hunt and go chase the bucks I was going after with archery, with my muzzleloader in a couple weeks.  Could use some money working until then anyway.

Saw two guys with a buck at Dishpan Gap in GPW Sunday.

We were in the ALW this weekend.  Went in Friday afternoon and came out yesterday afternoon.  Weather was pretty crazy Sunday night.  I've not ever been in a tent with that much rain, lightening & thunder  :yike:

Didn't see any bucks.  Learned a lot, as this was our first high hunt, chalked it up more to a learning  experience

Will be back next year.

I think the weather should calm down for me....I think?
Either way, being in the woods is worth it! Which side were you on?
