GMU 172 "Mountain View" hunt help!!!!!
« on: October 02, 2013, 01:30:25 PM »
Hey everyone,

I'm new to the board and hoping this is a place I can recive a little help.

I pulled a special permit for the "Mountain View" GMU 172,(very south east corner of Washington) 3 point min muzzleloader tag.

I am in Southern California (YUCK) for work so I haven't been able to make any scouting trips and I had a hunter who was experienced in that area (my brother) going with me...

Unfortunately, he had emergency back surgery a couple days ago and now can't come with me...

My question is this, does anyone have any advice or know people to contact in that area?

I will now be hunting alone, but I'm a strong guy I don't mind some hikes and I'm willing to pack meat out a long ways.

I'm just wanting this to be a successful hunt and if I get a big boy then so be it.

I hunt in Wyoming every year so that's usually where I get my big rack fix.

ANY help would be awesome! and I'd be willing to share meat for any responsible experienced hunters that might want to help on the hunt.

I will be getting into that area Thursday night or Friday morning early.

Please feel free to chime in with anything you think might contribute.

Thanks guys!!!

Shaun.

Unless you have private land already secured to hunt I would not waste your time in 172. I was there last weekend w the same tag. 48 hrs of zero visability fog, wind, rain and snow. Learned my lesson- just because Wdfw gives u 4 choices on the buck category,  dont fill in choice #3 or 4 unless you know the area. Its beautiful country but BIG and Nasty. Best of luck if you go.

Weather is saying mid 60's and sunny for the weekend...
Hope I don't run into the same luck.
Thanks for the heads up though.
