I'm thinking yote. Ears look too pointed for cat.

I've never seen a yote with ears 5' off the ground...maybe he's leaning on the tree (odd). But at first glance I see a pregnant yote, not seeing those sides as splayed hing quarters...thats a gut! I haven't seen enough cougars to make a definitive comparison though!

Look at the shoulders also look down were the tasco label is and you can see the leg contour towards the ankle area and it looks like his front legs are in close together like hes holding some thing down. how long after that date on the pic did you retrieve the camera? was there any sign of a kill, birth or scat? I think it's a coug holding something down and eating it.

I cant honestly say I remember how long it was from that date that I checked the camera. There was not any bones, fur, or feathers to speak of. I am pretty sure it was at least a week after that date that I checked it but could have been up to 3 weeks. I like how it seems to be 2 schools of thought. Its a big bellied animal that is standing there and its belly sticks out both sides. Or its an animal squatting and those are the outside edges of its back legs. Its like the duck or rabbit picture (if you dont know the picture I am talking about that wont make sense haha) I really want to say cougar. You can see the bend in the ankle type area of the back leg (red arrows) and really see the back leg comparison. The only thing I have to say against cougar is that unless its a small one, it has really skinny front legs.

It's a coug for sure calmly and methodically deconstruct and reconstruct what see in the pic in comparison to the pic of the other cat you have. The one on your cam looks like it's pulling up with force in the neck and shoulder area or stretching perhaps those actions would make his front end contract inward making him look narrow and look at the cuffs of the ears carefully and compare them to the other cat pic. Start putting all the evidence together a piece at a time like a puzzle and you will see it's a cougar. Get on your knees like your a cat, put your hands on the floor close together and stretch up ward with your head down.... what happens? your shoulders come in and your front profile narrows your blades rise, yes????? Put it all together and it say's I'm a cougar doing something weird but that's what I am

I don't see how you guys think that's a cougar. It's a coyote squatting taking a dump or piss or just messing with something on the ground. It's way too dark colored to be a cougar and look how long it's fur is. It only look's lighter tan because of the flash, but you can see the longer darker colored fur if you look closely. I don't see any belly sticking out those are it's hind legs.

The only thing that is remotely cougar looking to me are the ears, but maybe its just the picture and we can't quite see the ears well enough to be certain.

My vote is coyote.

I am guessing a smaller deer squatting and peeing with its head down.

Here are 3 pictures of a coyote, deer and feline pissing. Based on the general pose of all species, and  coloration of the picture in question...i say its a deer.
