Hutchins Road Question - GMU 340:
« on: October 14, 2013, 07:11:32 AM »
Went up this weekend to get a start on our Elk Camp.  During a drive we dd on Saturday we saw a new gate about 1/2 way up Hutchins road.  Anyone know what this is for?

My guess is that it will keep people from coming down from tamarack springs before the may 1 opener of the elk fence gate.

It's actually across Hutchins Road.  Not much chance of going around it either with a drop off on one side and a steep bank on the other.  I'm thinking it's for what Killmore said.

The gate showed up about a week or so ago, it's about 6 miles up the hill.  I think the guess about preventing access from the top when the area is closed is probably pretty close.  The rancher with the private land is a lot lower than the gate.
And I think God must be a cowboy at heart
He made wide open spaces from the start
He made grass and trees and mountains and a horse to be a friend
And trails to lead ol' cowboys home again
