Hey guys,

I'm new to the site and am an Active Duty Army Sergeant First Class stationed at JBLM. I grew up in Bonney Lake and regularly hunted GMU 653 (White River) when I was in high school (pre-weyerhauser sale). We spent opening weekend up there and needless to say, we are largely disappointed with the area now. I've been away from Washington for a long time and my dad, brother-in-law (Active Duty Navy out of Bremerton) have zero experience hunting across the mountains.

I saw that an old friend of mine had taken a three point muley from the Ephrata area and I figured it was a good enough place to start.  I've been looking at the GMU 272 map from Go Hunt and figured I would ask around to see if anyone was willing to help us out (any tips on where to go or hunt strategies would be great). Honestly, we are used to high mountains and clear-cut hunting... so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

-Chris

I thought you would have had a reply by now. I don't know the area but I've been through it several times on the way to Spokane. I'd find a good unit map and then get out and start looking. You know from previous experience to get up high and use your glass. I love mule deer hunting as the big bucks can be as sneaky as blacktails when it comes to hiding. Good luck and thanks for your service!
