Now Deer Hoof Rot in Winston Creek?
«
on:
October 20, 2013, 08:40:33 AM »
Over the weekend, I saw a 1x2 deer taken from Winston Creek with what looked to me to be hoof rot. Same elongated hoof shell and spongy, degrading pad.
The young man promised me he would take it to the game dept for examination.
Sorry no pictures.

I bet the deer was living in a swampy area.

That one looks more like an infection than hoof rot. The rest of the hoof is healthy and not overgrown like the elk hooves are. The one I saw looked like a miniature elk hoof rot case, not like this one where the hoof shell is unaffected.
