Anybody hunt Mayview?
Not a unit that gets talked about a lot, and with it being a new tag this year it will be tough to find anyone with experience.
Pretty positive it's 98% private.

145 is mostly private.  The Corps has some public land along the river.  There are several FFTH's but it's mostly CRP with little cover and gets hit hard by all types of huters (deer, bird etc).  The rut may be early this year.  This weekend noticed several bucks chasing does around and some of the guys said their bucks were getting stinky.

I hunt 145, just got back a few weeks ago from muzzle. As indicated, it is mostly private. There are a few free to hunt areas and we actually saw a few legal there.  I would try and knock on a fee doors.  The General season will be over and you might gain access.  We all took decent 3 pt mulies. I did not see the quality of animals as usual.  There is a outfitter called "deadman". They have a lot of land.  Good luck.

Used to be quite a bit of FFTH land there.  I haven't hunted there in many years, so I'm not sure if there is as much FFTH land or hunting with written permission land as there used to be.............but I can't imagine that it all would be gone now?  :dunno:

I used to get doe permits practically every year over there and there was a landowner that was real good about giving permission for hunting on his land.  Don't remember his name right now, but if I were you, I'd head over there now and get phone numbers to call and start knocking on doors.

(I used to like going over there pheasant hunting and then go take a doe to bring home to make the long drive more worthwhile in my mind since I was bringing home some venison).
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.
