Lewis River GMU 560

we are two guys, hard hikers and hunters,  we are looking to expand our little group.  We have a 15x15 wall tent very well set up, all equipments, wood, stove, meet pack frames, all that good stuff.  We run a shared meat/shared work camp, just normal dudes, cribbage at night, planning the next day, a few drinks but the goal is hunt hard and get meat.  We are looking for a single or a couple (maybe 3-4 more tops for right now) guys looking to expand as well or interested in joining.  prefer if you have an additional wall tent or structure setup so we can make a nice combined base camp set up. you have to be responsible as far as firearms and laws. we are not interested in getting shot, or getting arrested. One remotely airheaded action with a gun will have you packing. I've hunted and gone shooting with too many people not aware of their muzzle direction, not safe about unloading or loading, *censored* like that.  we use Garmin radio/gps locators so that would be awesome if you had one so we can keep location on each other. basically we *censored*in rock, funny, and fun to hang out with.  But a bigger group working together has better odds for getting elk, and putting meat in the freezer.
Let me know.  We already are set up for this year and are headed up there thursday night, but we could even make it work this year if you havent set up yet, or if you have we can hook up and join forces.

I've always been pretty careful about who comes into our camp. I've been hunting with 1 partner for about 12 years now and we seem to be able to stay in tune with each other on our hunts. It's like we have a sense as to what the other is going to do before we do it. We've been pretty lucky also as we get an elk almost every year and several times have put 2 elk on the ground. It sure is nice only splitting up the game 2 ways. We cut and wrap our own and separate per person each of the different cuts of steak.
A few years ago we brought in an extra and all he did was create havoc the whole hunt. He was loud, obnoxious, and a know it all. He didn't show that side of him until he showed up in camp. He came in the following year uninvited with 2 others in tow. They were carbon copies and needless to say it was a long camp. The following year I let him know ahead of time that we were going to hunt alone. He was pretty pissed off but I let him know why and I didn't get much of an argument.
I guess my point is this; if you're hunting together and enjoying the elk will come with experience and knowing the area. The 'honey holes' will come and go as you learn to adapt when habitat and hunters mess up one of them. Another will be right around the corner. We got 5 bulls in 6 years out of a couple of sections of timber until they logged it. It took us another year to find the next one but that has panned out with 3 bull in 3 years.
Who knows what lies ahead of us for this season as we drew a Toutle tag and we aren't really familiar with that area. We've been scouting and it's looking good but we won't know til we get there. Irregardless of our luck we know it won't be from lack of scouting or trying. We'll be hunting hard from day 1 and it should be a lot of fun. I'm confident that it's going to happen this year again!

I agree Eli,   We have done fine just the two of us as well, and we definitely are in tune with the other.  It's nice hunting with someone that has the same general impression of what needs to be done, where to go, how to get there etc.     We have been poking around for a couple guys to add for the last three years or so,     we will keep looking because we would like to have 4 total, maybe up to 6 but the more you get the more of a chance of getting knuckle heads like you obvious dealt with.

soooooo.  if any of you out there read this and think you or you and a buddy are normal, fun, joke, play and laugh, but hard hiking, meat packin, straight shootin, SAFE, a little redneck,  that might want to join up with us, let me know.....

new or not makes no difference.  I'ts more about being the right fit, similar outlook on the hunt and same general ways of thinking, acting, being, around camp, on the hunt, etc.  Were completely easy going, just want same laid back guys but focused on kicking ass with effort in the woods.    we plan to stick around swift / pine creek area, st helens in general for now. If you hunt that area we should definitely talk about meeting up.  I have gotten a couple PM's from other guys as well. I think we could put together a good little group and maybe meet up for a spring camping/scouting weekend.

Sounds good. Stay in touch and when we start to put together a meet up / scouting / camping trip next spring I'll let you know. Would like to do it before spring bear is over so at least we have a shot at meat while were roaming the woods looking for elk patterns and *censored*. LOL.
