Wow, went out yesterday
«

Gus and I walked 8 to 10 miles yesterday, saw three coyote, three ducks at about 100 yards and one load of pheasant poop! Our fist spot usually has one or two roosters and some jump shooting opportunities for water fowl instead we found three coyote and A LOT of raccoon poop. The coons have got to be making a big dent in the bird population.
The second place, usually don't go there, was Fishtrap Lake pheasant site. I've only been there twice and usually see some birds, but again nothing. I need to go to a couple other spots before I call it quits for this area and head further south.
Other than not seeing any birds we had a great day walking about and enjoying the absolutely GREAT weather yesterday.

Same around here, the pheasant numbers are down, and the coyote numbers are way up.

I was out on Saturday and hit my traditional spots where I can ALWAYS get up at least one rooster, now whether I hit that rooster is a different story. Gage was able to put up 3 hens for a entire morning of hunting the heavy stuff. Lots of bear crap down at my spot in Rosalia. Saw a total of two roosters while driving between spots, private ground of course, 1 coyote and an uncountable number of birds of prey. I think that the birds of prey are hitting what living pheasants are around pretty hard.

I've gone out 5 times this year in areas that always produce, minimum of 7-8 mile treks each outing. Missed 2 birds, saw one more rooster and two hens, and my dog is working hard. This is not worth it, I think I'm done, this year is sucking for birds unless I want to shoot them out of peoples yards
. Not only are there alot of coyotes but lots of birds of prey. Maybe something else going on?
