Camp spot in in Colville national forest?
« on: November 13, 2013, 04:19:06 PM »
I've been looking on google earth and wdfw's gohunt and there's a on of roads, but I'm looking specifically right off hwy 20 midway (as much as possible) between kettle falls and republic.  I've got the family with me so a nice easy spot would be great.  We're doing some winter camping and would appreciate a little insight from the ground troops.  Any ideas or roads I can start with?

I do not remember seeing anything off of 20 when we were on it. Maybe someone else can chime in with some better info! I am sure there is somewhere you can pull off and make it happen!

Haag Cove, Canyon Creek remain open in the winter.  There really aren't any roads that stay open through the winter because of winter range for big game.  Kamloops Island might stay open, up hwy 395 a little further.

By the way, midway between Republic and Kettle is buried in snow during the winter.
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

It was great.  Not much hunting took place, but a lot of wood burning did.  It felt like I had half the back of my 4runner filled with wood and I burned that up in the first few days.  Thank god for my wife ok-ing a chainsaw purchase.  She definitely reaped the benefits of the chainsaw that weekend.
