Bringing in cougar
« on: November 21, 2013, 06:55:43 PM »
Hey guys!

I was wondering if I could get some info on hunting cougar. I've got atleast 2 that are sticking around in my area. Ive also got a 5x6 buck that gets to live another season in the same spot that I don't want these cats getting too. I'd like to hopefully drop one this winter but have a few questions... What should I use for bait, and what kind of call should I use? This time of year, im not sure a fawn bleat would do much good for me.
So far, my plan is to wait until a light snow fall, and that's when Ill start hunting hard for them.
Thanks in advance!

That was an exciting hunt! I've seen 3 more cougars since that day.  They really need to up the bag limits. I called something in few days ago, I didn't get to see but a brief flash of it. I had both coats on and hoods up. Call is playing and during a pause in the call I hear something behind me off to the left. My hood is in the way and I can't see that way.  I slowly turn to see some tanish flash of color from something that had been sitting almost beside me. Kicked dirt at me as it bolted away. This was about 500 yards from where I killed the Tom.  I'd recomend some team calling.
