I guess I'm a darn liar. Went out to pick a few traps today and shorten the line up. Trapping gods don't care how you are feeling. Have to admit todays catch made me feel pretty good except for my shoulder. Forgot the camera so you get the fur shed floor. Over head flourescent makes the cat seem redder then it really is.

Pretty pumped about my new civet traps and using CO2. Don't make a bit of smell.

5" PVC with a glued cap. Air tight except for the door. 5" is very hard to get but I wanted that size. 4" is too small and 6" would use too much CO2.

The working parts of the trap slide out to load bait or remove civet.

Just set the trap and slide the working parts back in.I drilled a small hole in the PVC so I could wire the door frame to the pipe. I thought a civet might push it out. It is a pretty tight fit and found out the wire is not neccesary so I just push it in and good to go.

How it looks when set. Door is on the side. Pan on the bottom although you can't see it. When you make a catch just tip the trap up carefully. Remember you have a skunk in there! Then insert hose from CO2 bottle through door and crack the valve while you count to 30. Wait about 10 minutes and dump out dead civet.

That's a brilliant design, Bruce. Are you setting a couple of those near each of your cat sets to keep the civets out?

No, I wait 'till the civets hit a set then set one of the traps and keep resetting 'till They stop coming. If you catch a big male often one is all there will be. If you catch a female or a little one it is usually a family and there will be multiples.

if scaled up a bit that'd work well on the east side skunks

they too fat for that setup - might need a 12" pipe  :chuckle:
I just use water instead of CO2 but I wasn't putting up the fur that might change now though as I'm just bout all setup
