Blacktail - Late Archery
« on: December 05, 2013, 07:35:56 PM »
My son and his buddy found the black tail buck getting up from a bed. His shot was about 20 yards.

Beauty!! Nice shot placement!
If we were supposed to be vegetarian God would have made broccoli more fun to shoot!
"HOYT" why would you even consider shooting something else?

It's my first buck with a bow, usually I hunt muzzy for deer.  Never really tried hunting deer with a bow, we were hunting elk and I had a multi season deer tag.  We were chasing elk in the morning but there was a lot of other people in the area so we went back to the truck and had lunch.   We never have seen any deer in the area and I told my buddy that I will probably never spend the money on a mulit season deer tag again.  We decided to go back to the same area just head out a different way down a logging road.  My buddy was in front of me and we were getting to the end of the road all of the sudden he stopped and said BUCK!  I said what he said BUCK twenty yards, the deer just stared at us as I knocked an arrow and pulled back, he went about 50 yards and piled up!  There just happend to be some loggers in the area with their truck and they were kind enough to let us put and in the back of there truck and bring it to mine!  So the pack out was nice and easy :)  Already go permission from the wife to put it on the wall next to my only archery elk I got a few years back!  Needless to say I will always buy a multi season tag from here on out.
