« on: December 16, 2013, 05:14:24 PM »
Hey, i just had a thought in my mind about crawfishing and would  like to get in to it. I don't no a whole lot on where i would need to go. Im from the kitsap peninsula and normally just fish the salt and hunt. have not done crawfish before, if its not to much, does anyone mind given my some ideas on where i would need to go, I'm guessing south of the state, then agin not sure!
Lets go, we got fish to catch on the boondocks!!!

Not real familiar with your waters, but you can catch crawfish in pretty much any river and lots of lakes.  They like raw chicken, usually just buy the cheap bulk stuff from winco.  Make sure your trap is weighted (rebar works great).  Toss a trap in a body of water, wait 1/2 hr or so and check it.  If they're in the area it doesn't take long.

Island lake used to have dads, whopper sized ones! But just about all the lakes in Kitsap and Mason county have dads, some more than others.

Its not open right now but I am geared up and ready to roll. Check the regs, some are not native and there are requirements. That's all I will tell you :chuckle: It took me years but I provide a southern crawdad, sausage, corn feed every year. When I was a youngster we set traps in Pearrygin lake and use to pull 5lbs per pot. Put on your waders and go hike the creeks, mouths, and beaver lakes including ones that guys only trout fish as you would be surprised whats down there.
