Where we're all the duck hunters today?
« on: December 21, 2013, 07:58:47 PM »
I went out today anticipating the weekend crowd which is a good thing on this particular lake because it keeps the birds moving, but I had the place to myself on a Saturday  :o I heard a few blasts way down on the other end of the lake as I was leaving.
I bagged a few greenheads and a bluebill. Had a common merganser drake fly right towards the decoys and I promptly shot him with my camera, I'll never shoot or eat another merganser so I watched him mingle with the decoys. It was a slow day but a good day none the less

After the first shot the rest are just noise.

It is strange, the other day on a weekday there were eight vehicles in the lot and I turned around and went home.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

I suspect the honey doooo Christmas List kicked in. I know I had to promise to help her get ready this Afternoon and tomorrow.

Very mild day in Skagit.

Never did well on a nice day.  Seems like the crappier the weather, the more ducks fly...
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

Was up in the Skagit Area also this AM (bayview 1). Heard quite a few shots but birds didn't even take a look at my spread. Saw a couple birds think about setting down right before shooting started but that was about all. Left at 11.Saw tons of birds yesterday morning with the snow though and hit two teal. Wish I was a better shot  :bash:.
