I'm with Rick. I've never called in anything with an ecall. Always had better luck with mouth calls.

I have the Firestorm and like it a lot. They work great for those of us who have not fine tuned our calling.

For those that don't have the time or talent to develop the use of hand calls, ecallers have made the difference between going home with something or nothing
AS far as which Fox pro to get go for the best you can afford. I have and use the Firestorm with success and it has all the volume that is needed. Recommend dealing directly with Fox Pro. When you call them let them know what your plans are for use and ask about Reconditioned units. They carry the full FoxPro warranty and will load your caller with sounds you want, sounds list and samples available at Gofoxpro.com, or what sounds they recommend for your area and species desired to be called. Don't think you'll be disappointed with the FoxPro or their service dept.

I owned a Firestorm for 3 years worked without fail. Just go a Shockwave for Christmas. Couple of things to consider.
1. Cost- Firestorm Fury not bad for their price.
2. Where are you going to use it- Open desert country grasslands need loud and proud to brodcast or larger territory.
3. Types of animals- Budget callers limited to storage of less calling files.
4. Night hunting- The TX-9 remote controller is much harder to read at night.
5. Attachable decoy
6. Rechargable batteries.
The Shockwave seems to have the most advance features and the Kracatoa had the loudest output. I always have a hand call back up but am totally sold as to the effectiveness of ecallers. You can change up from imitators sounds (challenge howls, pup distress to prey and prey distress in seconds). I found I rarely used both speakers for calling with my Firestorm. It put enought sound out and just drained the batteries a lot faster. It is very small an light. Called a coyote with challenge howl from hundreds of yards up a coulee. He came in barking like a freight train. Bow hunting elk I called an adult cougar in to 17 yards bow hunting elk using elk calf distress. Other tips be very careful when using the FoxBang feature. You can select a sound to activate after shooting. most use pup or coyote distress to get other coyotes to come in or get a dog to hold up after a missed shot. It is activated by a sensor in the hand held remote. If you accidently bump or drop the remote it can activate this feature when you may not want it to. I still use the feature but just more aware not to activate it. Good luck this is one of the best times of the year for predator hunting.

I'll agree with Ken if you can afford it go with the shockwave but it is out of your stated $400.00 budget

I have had the FoxPro Scorpion for a couple of years, and like it. I have an auxiliary speaker but rarely use it, as the speaker in the unit is plenty loud unless it's a windy day. I got that model because of the compactness and portability, and it's all I need in a caller. However, I have had better response using mouth calls, mainly RR Calls. If something should happen to my FoxPro, I doubt I'd get another one.

I have a scorpion & I carry a speaker as if there's any wind ur outta luck for gettin the sound out. I have been lookin at the hellfire. Ink that would be a good call. I have had success with e calls & mouth. I won't bash either like others. But like a car, make sure its good quality or u will be disappointed. I carry hand calls as well and won't leave the pick up without them. I hear R&R MAKES some great ones.

I have a foxpro furry 2. I have enjoyed it very much. I have called in many coyotes with it and killed which is the important part! Before I purchased a premos e caller and went through 2 and did not like them. I thought the first one was defective and returned it for another. I do carry back up hand calls, one time all I could do is make one fem howl and it went dead! It made it through a month before recharging and using every sat half days of calling. Have fun and good luck.
