Pheasant Release Sites - different question
« on: November 10, 2008, 03:48:02 PM »
Rumor has it (over here on the east side) that somewhere on the west side it is published when the release sites are stocked.  Is there any truth to that or is it total bs?  If you call fish and wildlife around here, they just tell you that it wouldn't be ethical to tell people when birds are being released.

Thanks,
Jasen

at the cresent lake and cherry valley release sites located in Region 4 they list the release schedule and number of birds released for the particular day of the week. IE wed, thursday, friday, saturday, 40 birds each day.
In my opinion it makes the release site less crowded because the hunters spread out  throughout the week, instead of all showing up for a saturday hunt.

They release on the Skagit reserves and tell everyone when.
The first bird may get the worm, but it's the second rat that gets the cheese.

I was under the impression that most of the release sites on the east side released birds four times per season. You can always count on three of them being the opener, before Thanksgiving and before Christmas.

I was under the same impression - opening weekend, wednesday before thanksgiving, weekend before Christmas, and ???  Dad went out on the LT Murray site Thanksgiving morning and saw no birds and heard no shots.  What always seemed to be interesting was that every time there were birds in the LT Murray, there were lots of people from the west side there.  I am hoping to get my new pup on some birds before the end of the season, but like others have said, the birds on the res are flushing out about 50 to 70 yards away.  Oh well, thats why its hunting.
