10/22 mods

just got a 10/22, put a vx-1 leupould on it and a new trigger mod for a better pull, any suggestions for other mods to improve the rifle? The model ist the stainless ones and also having sling mounts installed on it.  This is to be a carry around grouse getter so didn't want a bull barrel or anything. :)
I've slowed down enough in my old age to finally let the game catch up to me

Take a look at Rimfirecentral.com they have plenty of ideas. I spent way to much time over there and wound up spending way to much on my 10/22  :chuckle:

I put a tactical solutions .920 barrel and a Hogue stock on mine. It weighs a lot less than it did before if weight was a concern.
Trigger, bolt buffer, bolt catch, hammer and sear. Extended mag release is very handy.

That is a great gun. I have been wanting to trick mine out, but don't want to spend the dough. Jackelope has the basics covered.

Good Lord that's a lot of money to spend on a .22...  :yike:

I've got $200 into a barrel, about $80 in the stock and then a few random $30-40 puchases here and there in the internals. I want to send my trigger group out to that 1 guy on RFC and let him work his magic on it. I can't spend the $$ on a VQ trigger group.

I was going to get a donor 10-22 and trick it out, then I figured by the time I got done, there wouldn't be much left, so I got all the receiver parts from Tactical Solutions, A Boyds stock, an E.R. Shaw bull barrel, and the only thing that says Ruger on it is the magazine.  Bi-mart has their 10-22s on sale for $183.00.  But mine cost 4 times that!   :chuckle:

I have a bicentennial model (made in the 200th year of american liberty) Would it be best to leave it stock for value, or are they all about the same value?

I'd leave it stock.  I have a "Finger-groove" Ruger 10-22 that was only made from 1966 to 1971, and I didn't want to change anything on it.  It even has the original Lyman 2 1/2 power scope on it, and a leather military-style sling.  My uncle gave me a finger-groove stock for a 10-22 that he had to take with a bunch of reloading stuff he bought at a yard sale, and I sold it on Gunbroker for almost enough to buy a new 10-22!  Incidentally, the new ones have a lot of plastic parts on them that used to be metal in the old days.  Even the "stainless steel" ones aren't really stainless steel now.  They are painted silver!   :twocents:

. Can't speak for Que's work but I had Randy at CPC jewel my bolt , radius the bolt, tighten up the headspace and install all the VQ goodies imaginable in the action, he installed the VQ titanium trigger group with no over travel and a nice crisp 1 1/2# pull and let's just say it was well worth the coin.
