Mica Peak
« on: November 13, 2008, 01:16:45 AM »
Anyone know of any public land near Mica peak?  I had a place just north of Spokane, but a bunch of guys moved in on me.  I am hoping I can find a new place before late season.

thx

This is permit only for the late hunt. Not much in the way of public land if any, back side of Mica is mostly inland empire land, get a permit and you can hunt it.

When we were hunting moose we did not see jack for deer. Only one tiny 3X4 and some doe. Locals said there was real bad winter kill last year. Maybe some moved in for the rut and we were not looking real hard for the deer. I did see two huge bucks on private property on the we to Mica Peak. Just get a permit and hunt the mountain.

Are you looking for archery?
i dont believe the winter kill was too bad, the property i hunt had 8-10 legal bucks on it all summer and early season.i see at least 4 or 5 legal bucks every time out there. this area is open for late archery no permit 3 point min or antlerless.

Thanks guys.

Yeah, I should have mentioned it is archery.  I changed to rifle for elk only this year.  My handle is kinda confusing huh?

So Mica is open for 3 pt or better right?  It shouldn't be too hard to find some public land there should it?  Doesn't take much.  Just hope it isn't full of other hunters like my old spot.  They put up treestands about every hundred yards.   :bash:  It was a decent spot but good heavens, it wasn't that good.

This is probably a stupid question, but where do I get a permit?  Just like buying a hunting license?

no state land at all, 1 or 2 chunks no bigger than a mile, paper land or get permission. Winter kill wasnt bad at all on Mica, way too much food and people feeding the deer in the area. The guy that owns the field left of the gate on star road will let you hunt. The state land down the road fom the gate is pretty good too. The prop to your left when you turn on to elder rd from the highway, is huntable, let us elk and deer hunt there in the past
