2014 Legislative Session is Under Way
« on: January 13, 2014, 12:58:41 PM »
The 2014 WA St Legislature is now in session. As in the past years, I will be posting bills on this site that have a connection to natural resources, firearms, and others of general interest. Technically, all bills introduced in the 2013 legislature are still alive and can start off exactly where they ended last year. Some bills have already introduced and posted on the forum including:

-HB 2199 which would give a complimentary Discover Pass to those who purchase over $200 http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,144785.0.html

-HB 2143 regarding genetically engineered fish http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,144778.0.html

-HB 2159 which would waive penalties for those cited for not having a Discover/WDFW pass displayed, but do own one http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,144697.0.html

-HB 2151 which would require WDFW, DNR, and State Parks to manage and develop trail systems on their lands http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,144698.0.html

-HB 2150 which would provide limited release of liability to those private landowners which allow public access on their lands http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,144525.0.html

WDFW has requested several pieces of legislation and will soon be introduced:

- A WDFW requested hunter education bill will institute fees for hunter ed, a minimum age for hunter ed, and require hunters 14 and younger to be supervised http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,145061.0.html

- A WDFW requested law enforcement bill would institute mandatory civil fines upon conviction for the illegal take of wild salmon, wild steelhead, green sturgeon, and white sturgeon over 65 inches in length. The bill would also make a mandatory fine of $500 plus statutory assessments for being too close to an orca whale. And a new crime will be established prohibiting the possession of fish, wildlife or shellfish that was taken in violation of another state's or country's laws http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,138250.0.html
