Silver Lake (Cowlitz Co.) Water conditions???
« on: January 14, 2014, 07:05:51 PM »
I'm trying to get some info about Silver Lake in Cowlitz County. It's next to Castle Rock/St. Helens.

I'm wanting to know when the visibility in the water is the best. I've heard it's always merky but what does that really mean? What months are the lake the cleanest in? Any info would be helpful.

I'm not looking for anyone's favorite spots. Just trying to get an idea of this lake.

Thanks
Scott Estes

Ive never paid a whole lot of attention. But It doesnt vere seem to change too much. A person wouls think that it would be the hot summer months. But boats and skiers probably stir up the mud as much as the rain influx other times of the year. Ive never seen it very clear.

You might try calling Streeters resort or 1 of the other resorts on there and talking to somebody. Oh theres Silver Cove, and another further west. But cant think of the name.

It's always murky. The bottom is deep mud.
The  lake is 15' deep and full of dead-heads and hazards.
Decent fishing at times. If you like crowds of people it's perfect.
Go slow if it's your first trip, a lot of hazards aren't marked.
Pm me if you want, I grew up at this lake and owned a home on it.

Just stay shallow enough that your head's above water and visibility should be just fine  :dunno:
