Has anyone heard whats going on for late whitetail around colville? I got drawn for a
late whitetail buck tag for the alladin unit which starts the 26th through the 30th,
was wondering if there in the rut yet?

                                   Thanks

I just got back from Northport area yesterday. Spent 8 days and huntin was tough. Crazy weather and full moon on clear nights made seeing deer during the day difficult. I saw 7 deer in 8 days. Three were bucks (2 spikes) but no good shot opportunity. With 9 hunters in my camp, when I left we had one hanging and it was the only deer that guy had seen in 7 days. A couple of other camps had 1 or 2 deer but nothing huge.

Temp was right around 30 most of the time (dipped to 17 once) and had everything from sun to snow to rain to sleet to high winds.

As for rut - it seemed to be getting better. Saw mostly small scrapes until the last couple days then found a couple that were being freshened nightly. For the dates you are going you may see good action in the beginning but might be on the down slide.

Best of luck to ya and hope to see some nice pictures when you get back.

I shot a 4 point just south of Colville on the 8th. It was pouring rain. I did see about 10 deer that sat but only one confirmed buck (mine) dropped him on the run at 60 yrds.  Now is the best time to be in the woods, find some good scrapes and watch them, try grunting and rattling as well.
