Isn't the first deer a whitetail and the second a mulie. Might be the angle or I still have sleepy eyes this early, but that sure looks like two different deer.

well since this is my first post and i been at this game since i was 12 the first one is definitely a whitetail granted its a beautiful one and the mulies are definitely my kind of deer but i think what the guy is getting at is he is hunting 2 different areas jmop

First one is not a whitetail look at the black tip on the tail.

the tail is kinda the give away after lookin closer it does look like a whitetail but in my opinion it's 2 different deer the face has kinda different look to it to

The first bucks rack looks different to me than the second buck posted. I agree it appears to be a White tail buck and Mule buck

after reviewing the first and second pics at close view the black tip on the first pic is actually a shadow not apart of the tail so i am sticking with my first thought 2 different deer

They look like the same bucks to me. Those of you who think that the first pic is a whitie need to spend a little more time in the woods. Look at the body and tail, not the rack. That is how a lot of mulies are shot during whitetail only season, folks looking at the rack and nothing else. I've seen a ton of blacktails with perfect whitie racks as well.

The first Pciture is pretty bright and clear and the white really stands. The second is somewhat dull and the ass end of the deer looks a bit grungy. On the first picture there is a spot of blacktail which could be a mule deer.. there does seem to be a differences between animals.. but I wasn't there to actually both animals

they are the same deer. look closer at the antlers the left side (deers left) is spot on the rigth side isnt to off either. the deer just has more mass and a tiny bit more tine length but not to noticable imo.

the first pic the black tip on the tail is not a shadow, its alot darker then the rest of the shadow on the inside of the deers leg.

i will say that that picture makes him look like a white tail but i can guarantee it isnt, lol i took the picture and watched him a couple different days last year, i'll post a few more pics, and i am positive they are the same deer

Looks like the same deer to me...... The rack looks very close to the same just bigger this year! and I have no clue how someone would mistake that first pic as a whitetail

I think the deer around yakima have a little bit of blacktail in them. Looling at the tail and ears they just don't look like the deer of say chelan county. He does have a rack like a whitetail though. I have heard of whitetail down by union gap by the river before though.

I've grew up Yakima and have hunted there for the past ten years or so. Unfortunately, no whitetails in Yakima...at all. As was mentioned before, blacktails often have racks that points come off the main beam like that, and the Yakima deer are blacktail/muley cross. I watched (and blew the stalks) on a buck very similar to that buck in Ellensburg this fall, and he wasn't a whitetail either.

I've seen and shot bucks near Yakima like that. People will ask me when they see the racks if they are WT. A couple of my friends have shot some also. There is a genepool of deer that all the bigger they get is (3PT) with long tines, and a half black tail. That looks like the same buck to me. BOOM!!!!

I retract my original post. Sleepy eyes have wore off. BUT to you that think there are no whitetail around Yakima. Maybe take a drive out on the rez. We seen two really nice whitetail bucks out there last year. Flag flying high when they were leaving. No doubt about it.

I've seen Yakima deer (muley/blacktail cross) throw a flag too, doesn't mean they are whitetail. Have you ever heard of a whitetail being shot anywhere near Yakima? I guess a bioligist's opinion would be great. Its just that I have never seen or heard of whitetails anywhere near there...ever. But I'm not an expert either.

Bull Canyon I think when you were driving around on the rez you might have drank a little to much of that fire water.

LOL. I cant believe theres even any animals still alive out there. I talk to some of the natives at the jail I work at and they always tell me that they killed most of the animals on the res and that's why they wander outside the rez so much now adays.

The first one looks like every other mule deer ive seen unless whitetails have mutated to having tiny tails with black tips and large ears!! nice bucks reguardless good luck!!
