Possible grouse location?
« on: February 10, 2014, 08:49:58 PM »
I would like to know if someone could point me in another location for grouse near puyyalup. Where I hunt Holds a lot of birds, but it's to thick to get a shot! Not asking for your spot, just a point in the right direction. I am a teen who just wants to get into more grouse!

Sounds like you got a good spot.  Slow down and practice your stocking skills.  When shooting at a flying grouse forget about the branch's.  Shoot through them.  All it takes is one pellet to take a grouse down.  Don't be to proud to take a grouse on the ground.  Especially when you sneaked up on it.  This will also prepare you for being a better deer hunter.

If you know a way to get to Tonasket that makes it close to Puyallup I am all ears  :dunno:.....I make that trip 12-15 times a year and it is always 4+ hours from anywhere near Puyallup the way I go :bash:. Please share, I would love to know  :chuckle: :chuckle:.

Hopefully that secret tunnel to Tonasket is not reveled to the public.  Hunting season is bad enough with the 4+ hour drive.

Deerharvester, will give you a call if we head over this weekend, the weather getting there may make it to fun to bother but as of now we will be over.

Merkelman, gotcha but man I gotta follow up on reports like that. You know where I live and what that could save me in time and fuel money :yike:. That route would be priceless. Maybe next year we will have to make the trip together.

Cool thing about this area (besides the really long, relaxing drive from the wet side :chuckle: :chuckle:) is you can find all three species of grouse...................and it's loaded with them

I'm heading over to the wetside this weekend so I won't be around.

Weather was great yesterday and is looking good today.  You still have some wet snow at your place but it melted in the valley.
