good or bad day
« on: February 18, 2014, 06:49:00 PM »
Went out last weekend for a hour and a half, saw nine dogs, sum breed, some eating and some playing grab but with each other. They saw at about 200yds. I shot at one runnin, gun jammedand watched them all run away. Saw a couple more about 600yds or so out, don't no why but I didn't shoot. Drove down the road saw one trotting at 50yds when I first stopped. Got out I shot, well I won't say how many times I shot, but the clip was almost empty, never did get him to hit a speed record. Saw one above where he went about 500yds so I shoot. I put the gun in the pick up and head home. It obviously wasn't my day. So my question is, seeing 13 dogs in a hour and a half with nine in one group considered a good day, or is it a epic fail for not capitalizing on it? I think I need to take up knitting..... :dunno:

Sounds like you need more trigger time than calling time.

Time to get out and practice from field positions instead of just sighting in at the bench.

It's the first shot that count, not the next 19 in the mag.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Triggers fine, can get in the red standing, sitting, laying. I think it was more a bad day and maybe lack of sleep. But seeing that many in one group was pretty amassing tho. Ya I may have been anxious on the one in the group, but the one by himself I think I realized it wasn't my day.lol

Were you shooting a bolt or semi automatic?  Im thinking great day for coyote watching.  Bad day for killing. :chuckle:  Id go back and set up on them! Than you can tell us you shot nine coyotes on one stand.

Exceptional day...just an off day for shooting.  I know I've never seen that many coyotes in one day.

Heck no need to call, I parked walked up the road a 100yds, looked at the feedin hole and there they were. I blew on the call and saw two that I never shot at. I'm game to take anyone out, but this weekend I made plans with a fella so I'm gonna do the best I can to make sure he gets some empty brass before he goes home. Huntins about gettin out enjoying the great outdoors, gettin out of house work, and makein new friends. :twocents:

Exceptional day...just an off day for shooting.  I know I've never seen that many coyotes in one day.

I've seen 5 together once and 6 together once. It was pretty cool the 5 I seen were chasing some deer. To far to shoot at but Was cool seeing them. Going back to the main post I would say good day always when you seen a few yotes. I think everyone has a couple of those days where it seems like you are shooting blanks at them. :chuckle:
