I don't actually keep it in my pack. I do keep a can of the spray in the back of my truck and hit my hat, boots and sleeves every time I get out. If I don't I am crawling with them in minutes. Not sure if it's where I go or what, but they are thick. I took a friend once who didn't use the spray before leaving. I looked over when we were eating lunch and he had at least ten crawling up one arm. I've had to pull the nasty buggers out. I'll do whatever I can to avoid that.

Had 1 each on each of my first 3 forays out on my first day of turkey hunting  :yike:   .... but never have had a problem since using Sawyer's.

Sawyer's says not to get it on your skin, and to let it dry on you clothing/gloves/hats ... so I apply before I leave home.   It also says it's good for multiple washings .. I've found that to be true also.

While we te on the subject ,should I be taking precautionary measures at camp ?
I grew up on a homestead in caswell,AK and never had to deal with ticks.

If you are camping you will have tick problems. Spend a day turkey hunting without anything on and you will become a believer in repellent. I hate using the stuff almost as much as I hate ticks.

I will have to look into the Sawyer's. I have never used it. I usually use the spray on stuff and it seems to keep most of them off. We still get a few crawling around after a long day out.

Sawyers is the best I have used so far. Spray down before the season and you are good to go. I have a therma cell but can never remember to use it tho.
