Plastic Boat Gas Tanks
« on: March 10, 2014, 10:23:14 AM »
I went out to my boat yesterday, and smelled gas  :yike:  The "New" 6 gal. gas tank was leaking. For $50.00 each you think they would last longer than a year  :bash:  I do not like these things. I wish that I could get the old metal tanks again. Looks like I'm going to have to buy 4 new tanks this year  :bash:

Any plastic that does not contain nylon doesn't seem to take temperature change very well.  Lately when I'm following an older Ford Explorer, the one with the wide plastic trim piece below the back window, I notice that they are all cracked in the middle, right where the oval "FORD" emblem is placed.  That large a piece of plastic has to give somewhere, and the recess and holes for the logo pins seems to be it!

If you get new tanks, try to get Nylon ones...they'll last a lot longer!
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"
