Kahr MK or K series in .40 or 9 mm?
« on: March 10, 2014, 08:03:11 AM »
Wondering if anyone has shot one of the steel framed Kahrs?  The K is the Compact and the MK is the Subcompact version in all steel frame.  Let me know your thoughts if you have.  I'm interested in "barrel jump" in the .40 and the trigger pull in either model.

My wife shoots a K 9, and loves it. A lot less recoil than my polymer pistols.

That is what I figured.  I have a Glock 26 (subcompact 9mm) and it is fine, but a little thick.  I used to have a Glock 27 (same, but in .40) and it just wasn't very fun to shoot because of the barrel flip.  Shot a Springfield XD40 subcompact over the weekend and it basically has the same flip as the Glock.  Not a big deal, but I am just a bigger fan of the steel framed pistols and would like to standardize on the .40 (I have several others).  Would just like to find a subcompact in .40 that is actually fun to take to the range too.

I carry the MK40 elite. It's a little snappy, but it's a single stack sub 40, so it's gonna be. The trigger is smooth and consistent, but a long pull. All in all I love this little gun! Only complaint is the weight, but being heavy helps control jump.

I carry a CW9 and absolutely love it. Small and compact and light. It has a smooth long consistent pull, but does have a slight bit of barrel jump. All in all great gun for everyday carry in my opinion
This is the year im going to get drawn, i can feel it. NOT SELECTED, NOT SELECTED, NOT SELECTED, NOT SELECTED, NOT SELECTED, NOT SELECTED... damn :(

Thanks for the replies.  I am looking at the MK40 elite or the K40 Elite.  I don't mind the weight to help offset the jump of the .40.  I was comparing size (height, length and weight) to my Glock 26 and found that I could probably live with the K40 which would be a little less snappy than the MK40 (I would assume) and I'm only gaining about 1/4" in height (which I've gained by adding the mag extension on my Glock anyway).  Seems like a good match.  I haven't looked yet, but I'm hoping West Coast Armory has one to rent.

my vote would be for the k9, as I have had one for a long time, shot idpa with it this wkend. k40 prob wouldnt be too bad. trigger is a smooth rolling double action, maybe 7 pound trigger, same for every shot. gets a little better as the gun breaks in. the K9's were allowed for off duty carry for NYPD, but the dept mandated a heavier trigger, so Kahr obliged them. NYPD stopped allowing it when they discoved that when broken in good the trigger got lighter an d smoother, and became less than their mandated (8lb?) heavier pull...
