About the Slit Throats, I don't personally do it, but if you have ever witnessed a good butcher. That is the first thing he does after the kill so it must do something.
I don't care what others do with there pics but it's undenyable that a pic with a relatively clean animal without the bloody toungue looks better. Thats just a fact.
I'm guilty of it in the past (hell, even last year) of not taking the time to shove the tongue back in.
Again it's of no consequence to me how someone else takes a pic, but for me I want a pic I can frame and really enjoy showing off to friends and family who may or may not hunt.

It is a method to bleed the animal out, because hey are usually shot in the head (not much blood flow). A deer or elk being shot in the lungs or even the heartwill be bled out before you get to them, thus making it unnecessary to slit the throat. My dad was a butcher for many years and he never once slit the throat of a wild animal.Brandon
