I see we have Cohoho, NW Eric, Little Dave, and myself from the Hwy 18 corridor contingent.  We'll have to meet up after Christmas.

Ok, got the hunter ed card in the mail  today . That was easy and only took 5 days. If any of you lost your card from when you were a kid just go to fish and game and fill out the paperwork, it's that easy.

This is a good time to see if your boots are going to keep your feet warm in Wyoming with this snow and storm coming tonight and tomarrow.  I think I'm going to do some rabbit hunting tomarrow :IBCOOL: in this snow :chuckle:

This is a fun hunt if every one makes it such...

I will tell you now that every one needs to go prepared for "EXTREME" cold weather (-20-30 isn't at all uncommon)

I talked with Bill a couple weeks ago and Tony or Erin only need contact him to possibly get the ball rolling on places to stay

I will say, even though you guys are looking at a couple years in advance, you need to have a place rented at least a year in advance to guarantee the facility you want

Make certain you have good rigs with good tires (it's very possible to get 12-18" of snow that time of year per night)

I know with the snow you guys have been getting in the last week or so, it’s a good time to test those things you wish to take along

Also, with this much advance warning, it’s a good time to start collecting the types of clothing you will need for the cold weather...

I would shy away from any sort of cotton in your wearing apparel, if it gets wet or damp; this causes problems that could be life threatening if any of you step away from the road

You will be required to have bear spray, and there is absolutely "NO" pistols allowed in the park...

Hope this helps some and if any of you guys have any questions between now and then, fell free to ask...

I've been hunting these sorts of environments for many years now and been on this particular hunt twice (both being successful)....

Good post and great info Russ.

We did have a good time on the last hunt we had. Good food and real great people. If I remember right only two people didn't get an elk, but got shots at them.

I'm going to try to give Bill a call this week to get the name of the rental place we stayed last time.

Good luck on those Burbots. Try them smoked, (it'll knock your socks off )

Thanks Tony...

I'm heading down by Dillon tomorrow morning and see what I can get...

I'm kind of excited, I like ice fishing and this is a new fish for me to go after...

I'm normally after trout (Arizona's term for trout is "gay bass" for any one interested in that tid bit)

The trout we got last time was very fat and about 20"

I also got one Burbot (for any one interested) that was about 24"...

I was a little surprised when I pulled it up as I've never seen one before, they look like a catfish and eel mix...

Pretty ugly, but extremely good table fare...

Great info in this post.  I've already decided on buying some new cold weather gear after tromping around in the snow during late archery and freezin my arse off.

Warm and weather proof is the way to go..Make sure that your boots ARE WATER PROOF, and bring extra pairs. We need the snow to bring the elk out of Yellowstone :chuckle:

I just got off the phone with Mountain Property Management about the condo(s) that we will be staying in.

As of todays pricing the total cost for one condo is $2,560.00 for 10 nights. This is for condo # 35 (the one we stayed in in 2003) It will hold up to 6 people (maybe more 8) ) If need be we can get anothercondo, ( # 11) at $175.00 per night.

Remember that this is at this years prices. It may go up next year, or it might drop depending on the economy.

Here in a link for the place

They are nice condos..

I'm still in, I'm already stashing money aside for this.  I'm also not beyond sleeping on the floor if need be.

Starting next Monday, I will start getting everything together as far as condo cost, and hopefully tag cost. Although it might be a year away, I am starting to get excited..
