I just started using trail cams last year and I was wondering on average how long you guys leave a trail cam in a new location before going to check to see if you have any pictures on it. Also I wanted to ask if you guys know of any trail cams that are inexpensive take decent pictures. Thanks.

I'll normally check mine every 2-4 weeks. I'd say the longer the better but I'm always too excited to see what pix I got.
I just bought a couple browning recon force cams from eBay for a great price and put them out today. My bushnell trophy cams have worked well. Along with primos 35.
Good luck, it's addicting.

I like to check mine every two weeks. Sometimes I will check once a week, but it's best to keep human scent to a minimum. Unless you're using bait, then it shouldn't matter. Go as often as you need to replenish the bait. If you're not using bait it might be good to go at least 3 or 4 weeks between checking, if you can stand to wait that long. My issue is that I don't want to have something go wrong with the camera and miss that much time. Which is why I like to check at least every two weeks.
For a good deal on a camera right now, this is the one I would get:

There are better cameras, but only if you spend twice as much money.

Thanks for the help guys. Bobcat that's just in my price range, and it seems to have some great features.

You might also check on ebay for refurbished Moultrie M80's. I got one a couple months ago for $60 from Rogers Sporting Goods, but they don't seem to have them anymore, but I believe they are still being sold on ebay. At least last time I checked.
