Multiseason Elk Permit
« on: April 17, 2014, 09:20:22 AM »
Hey all,

My day got pretty exciting after finding out that my dad and I got drawn for the multiseason elk permit. I'm trying to do some research as to how this affects other special permit drawings. If I get drawn for my quality archery bull tag, am I allowed to then hunt in that unit during the modern firearm, archery, and muzzleloader seasons? The WDFW website says this: "If drawn for both a Multiple Season Permit and a deer or elk Special Permit, you may use your Multiple Season tag for your Special Permit hunt."

Or does it just open up the option for me to apply for quality bull hunts for modern firearm, muzzleloader, and archery seasons? The website also says this: "With a Multiple Season tag, you benefit from more chances to hunt with a wider variety of legal weapons. You can hunt any open unit during all three general seasons. For elk hunters, this includes both western and eastern Washington general seasons. Without a Multiple Season tag, elk hunters would have to choose either western or eastern Washington.

If you buy your Multiple Season tag before applying for deer or elk Special Permits, you also have more options. You can apply for any weapon type. You can also apply for both eastern and western Washington elk Special Permits, even on the same application. For example, you apply for a Bull Elk Special Permit with the following hunt choices:

      1. Western modern firearm
      2. Eastern archery
      3. Western muzzleloader

You could not submit these choices on a single Special Permit application without a Multiple Season tag."

If anyone knows off the top of their head, I would greatly appreciate it. I will continue to do my research and will eventually find the actual answer, but I know there is a ton of knowledge on this site and I am definitely not the first one that has been drawn.

Thanks all,

Thanks all,
Yes, as long as they are general season hunts.

If you are drawn for a quality archery tag you can only hunt the archery season for a quality bull. If you do not fill that tag you can then hunt the remaining general seasons but only for what is open. Not a quality bull. You can apply in any category, weapon provided you buy the tag before applying. You still only get 1 quality app to divide between weapons if you choose, not 1 quality app for each weapon type.
Fish hard, hunt harder!
