I know we are in the Great NW. Found this 53 min video by researchers that track and follow Coywolves in Canada and Chicago area. It's a good video about the life and habits of coyotes in Urban City areas.

According to the above Video, there are 2,000 Coyotes in the Chicago Urban Area.
I found it interesting how they were able to track the 100 Coyotes with Radio Collars. How they live quietly among the Residents. They show their movements during a day and night time period. 170 views to this thread, and not one comment. I guess this is how most forums are. But, being we are a rare group that specialize in coyote hunting, you would think there would be more input?
Hope you enjoyed the video, good luck on your hunts.

The video was good--long, but good. The reason coyotes are so successful is the same reason we as a species are. They and we are adaptable to changing conditions. Critters that cannot adapt, go extinct. I'm constantly reminded of the story about the guy who was sitting in a downtown Seattle Starbucks, and looked across the street to see a coyote rummaging through the dumpster!

I had already seen this video. It is great video work. I was thinking of how hard it would be to gather that kind of forage and data. I'd rather just hunt them....

Coyotes are smart, more versatile than the wolf. I swear I've seen hybrids in WA

We all know how well coyotes adapt to changes in there habitat, or new habitats. As to increasing sizes the northeast IMHO does have coyotes with wolf genes running rampant in their systems. The coyotes in the south, and to some degree here in WA. at least some of the time have gained weight and size by breeding with dogs. There was a "coyote" near where I lived close to Poulsbo that had legs like a basset hound but coloration of a coyote. In the deep south you can shoot songdogs with all colors of coats, not just shades or tints but real color, red, black, white, brown, grey. I can only believe that is from mating with dogs.

I had to get rid of what my neighbor described as coyotes once, they were stalking them around their farm just up the hill from ours, those were not straight coyotes, they were far bigger than just coyotes, and much more aggressive, there used To be a wolf sanctuary nearby until it had to close
