Almost limited (4 people) today off Lopez with one set, had to get my boy back to school for lunch.     Pulled pots by hand again as my puller that worked Saturday morning did not work Saturday afternoon or today, grrrr.

First time shrimping for a couple of part-time neighbors.

Will be back out Saturday.

Is that a Brutis puller?

Ace Line Hauler  They sent me a new motor last year, which worked well for the season.  I rewired the downrigger plug on the boat with a 30 amp circuit breaker (as it says to do), tested it Saturday when we left the dock and no go when we went to pull our first pot.  It seems to be shorting out inside as I have power at the plug but get 81 ohms of resistance when I hook the ohmeter up to it.   :dunno:   :(

I thought the Ace's were sealed up pretty well, a short inside seems unlikely given their construction but I'd agree that's what the evidence points to.  Is it possible that when a load is applied it causes a surge, or that the body of the puller moves enough to cause a short inside somewhere?

We hit it again Wed. morning. What a beautiful day! Was very concerned when we pulled our first 4 pots and eneded up with 1 shrimp. Never had that happen before. Made a move and got into them pretty good. Ended up with 4 limits and dumped 2 limits back!
