He brought it over to my daughter's house to cook Easter dinner for our extended family. The lamb chops were fantastic!

To give you some idea of scale, the small smoke pot on the bottom left is/was a 5-gallon propane tank. I gotta talk him into building one for me.

Does he make them professionally or just as a hobby? That is a fine looking smoker.

It's a hobby. He does take orders, though. PM me if you like to get in touch with him. He lives near Arlington in Kayak Point. I hope this is okay to say on the forum. I'm not shillin' for him - I'm just proud of his workmanship.

Since you've had one blow up on you, has he added an exhaust vent at the top on his new ones?
What kind of temperatures are you getting?
Also, what temperature variation are you getting at the bottom of the cooking chamber vs the very top of the cooking chamber?
The smoker looks good!

I don't know if his has a vent in the top. Here's what it looks like with the door open.

I can't tell what that small spot is in the back of the main chamber. Looks like you can see the fence behind it. Like I said, I haven't cooked on it. I only saw it at the family dinner and didn't have a chance to really look it over. It does look a little bit like a Russian launch vehicle, though.

That does look like a hole right through the back there. Very interesting smoker ( said in a very positive way). Looks like a burner in the bottom of the cooking chamber as well a fire box. Would be curious about the desired abilities of this thing. You should suggest your son join here, buy a sponsorship, answer some questions and sell some of these guys. Very unique and cool!

I've tried to get him on here, but he avoids computers completely when away from work. With his son starting college, I try to encourage him to make a buck wherever he can. First thing I'd do if I were him is buy a plasma cutter to use instead of a torch. I filled a couple of acetylene bottles for mine a while ago and it was a C-note!

Sounds like a great gift from dad!  I kicked myself when I went to plasma from a torch. Why I waited for so long was beyond me.
