Big Chief Sitting Bear

I wonder what is going through this guy's mind here. Maybe he doesn't have a care in the world right at that moment. Or is he just scratching himself?

Looks like he's just taking a break from his bear stuff. You know, just sitting back taking in the sights and smells

I watched a bear for about 15 minutes last year. It sat down like that for a couple of minutes at a time twice. It was just looking around taking in the scenery. I almost shot several times but something didn't feel right and it never gave me a good broadside except when sitting. I watched it walk into the timber but about 5 minutes later it came back out and woofed once. Two little cubs came out behind her. I'm so glad my gut feeling was on the mark. I knew there was another hunter in the area so when they started moving over in his direction I ran over to the other side of the hill and stopped him just before he shot her. He didn't see the cubs. It was my hunting partner on that hill but I couldn't raise him on my radio (accidentally switched the channel) so I got to him just in time.
