I know that wdfw encourage you to not apply for both tags in the same year for the chance of drawing them both, but I always have and my hunting buddy is nervous that we could get drawn for both in the same year? Haha ya right!  So has this ever happened to anyone?

Now that our points are in the teens, my oldest son and myself ask this question each year. I think WDFW should draw 1 or 2 Alt. for each drawing and if someone double draws they can give one up to an Alt. They do it for Moose and sheep in case someone doesn't buy the tag after drawing it. They want your money for all those years and then expect you to keep putting in for the points only so as to keep the money rolling in.  :bash:

When i was scouting for my quality bull hunt a few years ago. Two guys I ran in to had this happen to them with 15 points. I also remember reading somewere a few years ago I lucky guy drew a goat and moose tag the same year. If I were you I would put in for everything and not worry about it. Chances are you wont draw and If you draw both im pretty sure you could deal with it.

It's bound to happen with so many hunters sitting on so many points in multiple categories- since the invention of the category idea and the way the dfw rolled all points into each category. If they would have done it right and split the points up and spread them out by category it would have been less of an issue. As time passes, and guys with big points draw in one category or another, it will likely happen less and less.

I think about it every year but still put on for both due to the low odds. I have 19pts each so I feel entitled this year.

Ya I am with you guys.  We both have 4 points so it isn't like we are going to draw any time soon.

I'm curious why guys don't just choose the points only option for the categories they don't want to draw...

The odds are already low to draw even one of the tags let alone two. Unless I was putting in for quality and bull tags with tons of points that have good odds it wouldn't phase me. Even then I would be willing to risk drawing both tags because the odds you do are far smaller and not worth giving up the chance to draw one or the other.  :twocents:

I know of a few people who have.  Obviously when they did they did not think it was possible but it is.
I think when the state sees this you automatically get drawn so they can kill your points. Lol :chuckle:

No way am I putting in for both, taken way too many years to risk losing one of those tags if I drew both.  I also have 19 points and you would think the odds are decent at drawing both. :dunno:

I have an econ/statistics background from college and depending on what units you put in for, your odds are still pretty dang low of drawing both even with 19 points in both. You could do a comparison and figure out the odds or drawing one or the other and then the odds of just drawing one if you put in for one. I bet you find that the odds you lose by only putting in for one is much higher then the odds of getting drawn for both if that makes sense.

I'm sure in reality the odds are still low but I just can't take the chance, with my bad luck, I'd draw both.

:yeah: I know a guy that drew quality and anterless in the same unit at the same time. He had tag soup to celebrate his season.  :yike:
