Want to borrow a sight pusher
« on: May 15, 2014, 08:10:21 PM »
I need to borrow a sight pusher to change the front sight on my muzzleloader (a Rem 700 & a Bighorn)
One of my co-workers has one, but he is on vacation for 2 weeks.
I went to buy one from Brownells, but they are now out of stock.

Looking for one like the Wiliams 1953

looks like this:

I never knew such a thing existed. I've always used a small center punch and an even smaller dead blow hammer. Thanks for the link though, might have to pick one up. My barrels would sure look a lot nicer had I been using one of those all along.  :chuckle:

Yeah,
They work good for the ramp style front site, but would be difficult on an octagonal barrel.

I destroyed a ramp once trying to do the punch without proper support.

Have one on order, should be in next week

Be careful which one you buy though.  You can find a lot of different types and a few different styles.  I have one that I got off Ebay.  It works for the most part but you have to be very careful or you can still scratch the finish on your gun.  Mine is a fairly cheap one that I had to send back when the bolts seized because the metal frame wasn't heat treated.  :bdid:
I haven't had to use it since it got replace with a heat treated version.

I have the Williams sight press on order.  Didn't like the ones I saw on e-bay.

I have borrowed a Williams style from a guy at work, and have tried to buy it from him but no-go.
So now I'll have my own
