Savage 99f
« on: May 16, 2014, 08:58:59 PM »
My father passed away in 1995, and I inherited a savage 99f in 308. The gun had a nice leopold 4 power scope mounted on it.
The next year, I Met up with some old buddies from high school, that were hunters, and they invited me along
To show me the ropes on how to hunt.
I showed them the rifle I inherited and was told I needed a better scope.
Took the rifle down to Sportco in fife and had them mount  a 3x9 leopold. The gunsmith said he would mount the scope for free if he could have the iron sights. Being new to hunting and rifles at the time I agreed. How bad would you say I was screwed on that deal? :yike:

It really depends,  do you intend to sell the gun?  Then you lost value.  If you didn't have the ability to do the scope mounting yourself, and you're keeping the rifle I'd look at it as a trade.
