patterning deer

I've been seeing a group of the bucks in my hunting area. Generally there in the same areas. How difficult is it to find these deer in September. Do deer usually switch to different areas later in the year?

Typically deer stay in the same routine through summer.  But it can depend on the area as well.  Mule deer will migrate into the high country in a lot of places.  There are always going to be resident deer but sometimes not many.  White tail in my opinion are much easier to pattern as they tend to stay put more, at least in my experience.  Black tail I am no help with.

I guess I'm hunting mule deer/benchlegs but your saying they migrate to higher country later in the summer?

Well it's likely but not a guarantee.  I believe most mule deer herds migrate to higher elevations durring the summer. Not all of the deer migrate though.  Also they start migrating as soon as it starts warming up enough.  My best guess is that if they are going to migrate to a higher elevation they have already started.  But keep tabs on those deer you find and if they stay put for much longer i doubt you'd have to worry about them migrating higher.
