Idaho Elk - Tag Soup
« on: December 01, 2008, 11:19:10 AM »
Well, it appears that tag soup is on the menu for me for Idaho elk tag.  I had a panhandle A tag.  Hunted something like 13 days in Sept.  Passed on a cow and a spike.  Had some good action but just couldn't close the deal on a big bull.  Didn't really hunt during the rifle portion of the season but did give it a go w/ the smoke pole.  Got into critters a few times but no shots were issued.  Saw scads of moose and found some new bow hunting areas though so it wasn't a total loss.  There's a small % chance I'll make it out for late archery so it's not a 100% all is lost.

Anyone else hunting late archery in ID?

Sorry to hear you didn't fill your tag but you have the right attitude about it. Hope you are able to get out the late season and score!

I have three elk tags to add to my soup.  Not sure if that makes it more bitter or if it has extra flavor.  Had lots of chances at bulls, so NO COMPLAINTS, but it would have been nice.  Maybe next time my standards won't be set quite so HIGH.  OK I will complain about wolves as I hate them and they were everywhere I was.  Bastages!

Add one Idaho elk tag salad here >:( with wolves on the side. St. Joe area (Unit 6) was very dry, warm and full of wolves and atv hunters.
MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.

More elk Idaho elk tag soup here as well.  Did kill a nice 4x5 whitey over there and have a freezer full of Moose meat, so I'm not too bitter about the elk tag.  I do still have the late season as well, and depending on snow may give it a go for a day or two.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

Wenatchee jay  Unit 6 is where I USED to hunt. NOT going back until they open a wolf hunting season in Idaho.  I REALLY want to tip one of those suckers over.  There is a store in Jackson where they sell a bunch of taxidermy, they had two full size wolf mounts.  PRETTY *censored*!  It would make all these years of pour Elk Hunting worth it to be able to Kill an Idaho wolf someday!
