Bell and Carlson stocks

What do you guys think of them?  I was looking at the medalist for my 300 WSM model 70.  I know there are better stocks out there, just dont want to pay out the nose for one.

I know a lot of folks who use them.   The medalist comes with the aluminum bedding block and are pretty solid for the money.  It all depends on how well they fit you.  Best of luck.

for the price they are a great a big improvement over factory tupperware stocks

I have one on my Vanguard and I really like it. Way better than the plastic factory stock. I have it at a gunsmith right now having it glass bedded.

If you ask the guys on 24 Hour Campfire they will say Bell & Carlson sucks. They seem to only like McMillan, but those are over $400.

I put an Alaskan II on my Remington 700 and would buy another one in a heartbeat.  At $260, I felt it was a good value and definitely good enough for my needs.

I have th b&c coyote on my fn pbr xp 300wsm. It has an aluminum block and it's as light as a manners stock. Problem for me is the palm grip is very horizontal, thin and it has no cheek rise (I have a 50mm scope). So it is light and stiff and animals do die but is like to get a manners. I put one of those cheek pads on it and it is a better fit with that.

B&C stocks are a great deal! I've had stocks from Manners, XLR, McMillan, HS Precision, Sharp Shooters Supply, Stockade, and Joel Russo. They were all great stocks, but my guns shot just as well when they sat in an inexpensive B&C with a quick skim bed of Devcon.

If the price is right and it fits you well, a Medalist is just as functional as any of the other stocks out there.

I have one of the old Ti stocks on a 700sa adl. It's a fine stock. Little chunky, but not bad at all, and the comb is perfect for my set up. Reasonably stiff.

Never had one for a M70.

Have em on my .300 & .338 - really cuts down the recoil.  Work great and like the camo choices.

Just looking at them, when they are the same model, I can't tell the difference between a B&C or a HS Prec. BUT what I have noticed with B&C stocks is they sometimes don't have a centered barrel channel and one side of the barrel will have a much bigger gap than the other side.  I've seen this a lot on Weatherby Accumarks that were made after Weatherby stopped using HS Precision stocks on the Accumarks and switched to B&C stocks.  I don't know the year they switched but the earlier Accumarks had HS Prec. not B&C like they are now.  They look exactly the same though.  I'm not positive but I think Remington did the same thing with the Sendero's and the newer ones have B&C instead of HS Prec.  I don't know if it affects anything but when you spend that kind of money for a rifle it'd be nice if the barrel looked centered in the stock.

I have a Alaskan II on my mod 700 and I love it....My barrel sits centered! A  buddy of mine has a hs precision on his model 700 and the barrel channel wasn't anywhere near center when he got it! The Bell and Carlson is a great stock for the price!

Guts, I have a Model 70 .270 WSM and I put a Bell & Carlson Metalist stock on it. It improved my grouping dramatically from the original plastic stock. I've had this set up shooting 1/2 MOA. Unfortunately the bullets I was using are no longer being made, so I'm currently back to the drawing board.

With my set up, I have very little movement between the stock and the barreled action. I recently spoke with a gunsmith about having it bedded. After a good conversation, we agreed that why fix whats not broken. The only thing I have done is free floated the barrel. I made sure I could slide a business card all the way up and down.  I know the rifle can shoot 1/2 MOA, so why change anything on it now. The only downfall on this stock is the low cheek piece. Other than that, I love it. Pluse I only paid $90 for it.

I just got mine back from the gunsmith Tuesday. It's now glass bedded and he took out the pressure point so the barrel is free floated. I'm going to shoot it tomorrow and see if there's any improvement. The barrel is centered in the channel now instead of being tight to one side, so I expect it will shoot a lot better.

If anyone needs a good gunsmith who's quick, let me know. He was done with my rifle in less than two weeks. I was pretty happy for not having to wait long.

What did that cost?  I'm thinking about doing the same thing and would be interested to see if floating had any impact on accuracy.

By removing the pressure pad you have voided the warranty. B@C does not stand behind their products. Its a very long story but i will never buy another one of their stocks ever again. Some guys get lucky and their stock fits great and others...not so much. HS precision is by far a better company to deal with. There are alot of stock manufactures out there do your homework. You get what you pay for.

Bobcat im sure your rifle will shoot better. They had a problem with the angle of the bedding block on Weatherbys. Stcokys told me that they had numerous returned that didnt fit. Unfortunatey my smith took off to much to begin with to make it fit. I sent it to B@C and told them that i knew that my warranty was void but please put an action in it so they could see the issue. I got a "nothing is wrong it fit great" we put it in three actions and the same was wrong with each. they make a nice product but wont fess up to their mistakes
